* This subsidy creates a budget deficit we attempt to cover each year by seeking donations and gifts from you and other caring families.
2. Do we buy the books for a separate fee? No.
Families are not required to purchase their own textbooks. The school purchases, owns and distributes all textbooks
and workbooks (except dictionaries) to students on the first or second day of class. The cost of the books is included
in the tuition and standard fees listed above. A fee will be assessed for lost books.
3. Are financial assistance grants available? Yes.
Edgewood does offer financial assistance, with a
maximum grant amount of 50%. The amount of assistance is based on the financial needs and circumstances of each family on a year-by-year basis. Over $600,000 in financial assistance has been budgeted and awarded to 42% of our families for 2010-'11. Refer to the Financial Assistance brochure and the Confidential Financial Aid form for more information. Completed forms for the 2010-'11 school year must be submitted to the Business Office after you have completed your 2009 tax return and by March 31, 2010. Those who qualify will be notified in writing by May 15, 2010.
4. How can I justify spending money for high school tuition that I could save for college?
Studies show the impact and value of a secondary education on the intellect and character of a young person far exceed
that of a college education and are more enduring. Our hope is that Edgewood graduates will have greater college
choices as well as the maturity and motivation to take full advantage of what college has to offer them. In addition, our
student services department provides exceptional guidance with the entire college financial assistance process.
5. What payment plan options do I have? Many.
Edgewood High School offers ten payment plans. We accept Master Card, VISA and Discover Card. The fee,
if any, is in parenthesis:

- Full Year Plan, payment by charge card ($100/year)

6. How can I make an additional contribution toward the full cost of educating my student?
As shown above, the actual cost of educating each child at Edgewood High School is approximately $10,928.
The difference between the actual cost to educate a student and tuition/fees we charge creates a budget deficit each year of almost one million dollars. In order to cover this annual budget deficit, Edgewood's Administration, Office of Institutional
Advancement and Board of Trustees must solicit and secure gifts of financial support from alumni, parents of both current students and alumni, friends and supporters. There are several gift options available to you throughout the year such as the Parent
Pledge program, the Auction or other solicitations. When approached throughout the school year, please consider these
giving opportunities.
