Crusader Fund FAQs

AS A MEMBER OF THE EDGEWOOD COMMUNITY, HOW CAN I HELP?

Crusader Fund

The Edgewood Crusader Fund is our financial lifeline and most important giving priority. As a private Catholic high school, we do not receive federal, state or diocesan support and rely on philanthropic support to bridge the gap between tuition and the actual cost to educate each student.

Your tax-deductible, unrestricted gift is the best way for parents, alumni, and friends to make a meaningful difference in the breadth and depth of programs and resources available to our students, and keep an Edgewood education more affordable for families.

Only you can decide what is an appropriate gift from your family. We gratefully accept any and all contributions, but strive for 100% participation.

WHY ISN’T TUITION ALONE SUFFICIENT?

Most people are surprised to learn that tuition covers only 80% of the cost to educate each student. Gifts to the Edgewood Crusader Fund support that gap – approximately $2,500 per student – and keep and Edgewood education more affordable for our families.

In order for Edgewood to provide an exceptional experience to our students and families, we ask for active participation in the life of the school. Participation comes in different forms, but we ask that families and alumni offer a financial gift to the Edgewood Crusader Fund according to their ability to give.

These tax-deductible donations range from $5 to $50,000 and are recognized between July 1 and June 30 in our “Honor Roll” annual report and Living the Mission ceremony each October.

Strong parent and alumni participation makes a statement to our external community when considering their support. Every gift matters and will make a difference in the daily experience of our students. Find a level of giving that’s comfortable for you.

DO MAJOR GIFTS MAKE UP MOST OF THE CRUSADER FUND?

Edgewood High School is incredibly grateful for a long tradition of leadership from loyal and generous benefactors. Current parents, alumni, trustees, grandparents and parents of alumni are counted among the school's most generous philanthropists.

As you consider your annual gift, please consider joining or moving to the next giving level. Donors are recognized each year in our Honor Roll annual report and Living the Mission ceremony each October.

IF I CAN'T MAKE A LARGE GIFT, DOES A SMALL GIFT REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Yes! Edgewood High School values every gift regardless of size. Last year, gifts of $100 or less contributed to more than 30% of our Crusader Fund!

Every gift is greatly valued and 100% participation ensures the strength of our school year after year. For the cost of a family movie night or meal at your favorite restaurant, you can make a significant impact on Edgewood High School each year.

Check out our online donation page to set up monthly or quarterly recurring payments to make your gift more manageable.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO PAY MY PLEDGE?

Edgewood’s fiscal year runs from July 1 - June 30. The Edgewood Crusader Fund is designed to support students and faculty in each academic year. Donors are encouraged to make a gift or pledge early and can fulfill their gift any time before June 30.

Donors can maximize their gift by scheduling contributions in smaller and more convenient monthly or quarterly increments. Once a gift or pledge has been made to the annual fund, you will no longer receive solicitation to the annual fund that year.

IS MY DONATION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?

Yes! Gifts to Edgewood High School are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law and may be made in the form of check, credit card or stock transfer.

DO YOU MATCH GIFTS?

Does your employer offer a matching gift program? If so, your donation has even greater impact on Edgewood High School. If you’re unsure, ask your organization or contact the Development Department at 608.257.1023.

HOW CAN I MAKE A GIFT IN HONOR OR MEMORY OF SOMEONE?

Memorial and tribute gifts are special ways to honor friends, family, and loved ones. Simply indicate the individual(s) you would like to honor, or whose memory you would like to recognize online or on the pledge card you return with your gift.

Join us for an Edgewood Memorial Prayer Service and light a candle in honor of a friend or loved one who has died. We welcome visitors at these services, which are held five times a year. Check the calendar for dates and times or contact Dennis McKinley for more information.
