Students Visit Jewish Synagogue

Temple Beth El Synagogue Welcomes EHS
Students of Edgewood's World Religions class already had a scheduled visit to Temple Beth El Synagogue in Madison on October 29 which was made all the more poignant by the murder of eleven Jewish worshipers at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life Synagogue on October 26.

Students gathered outside of EHS before walking to Temple Beth El to share a moment of reflection to honor the shooting victims and our local and national Jewish communities. During class, students continue to discuss anti-Semitism with the goal of understanding its origin and the need to confront and to denounce it through word and action. Students’ time spent at Temple Beth El began with an expression of solidarity with our Jewish sisters and brothers and became an experience of joy and community as they learned about major historical periods of Judaism and significant Jewish rituals and beliefs.  Shalom.
